Mubarak Al-Kabeer Natural Reserve
A marine reserve established according to Cabinet Resolution No. 1195 of 2010, under the supervision of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources. Its area is 638 km2, which was announced by Decision of the Supreme Council for the Environment No. 7/2016. The purpose of its establishment is to protect the island's environment and its biological diversity (border reserve). The reserve covers the northern part of Bubiyan Island and Warba Island, and most of them are mud flats, sabkhas and marine creeks. They are abundant in mollusks, which are a source of food for many seabirds that live in the region or return to them during the annual migration seasons, and some of them breed on the island, such as Abu Mualla and Abu Al Khasif.Bubiyan Island is considered the largest Kuwaiti island by area. Salt-tolerant plant species are found in the reserve, such as Thulice, Alqalman, Tarfa, and Alharam
