Minister of State for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Ghazi Saud Al-Fulaij, praised the Cabinet’s decision to adopt the Government Environmental Sustainability Reporting Framework initiative, emphasizing that its approval marks an important national step toward embedding sustainability across government operations, strengthening governance and transparency, and enhancing environmental performance within government entities.

The Minister explained that the framework aims to establish a unified government system for preparing annual reports that measure the environmental performance of government entities and monitor their compliance with sustainability indicators. This will help provide accurate, measurable data, identify opportunities for improvement, enhance resource efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making.

She added that the Cabinet’s assignment of her, in her capacity as the supervising minister of the Environment Public Authority, to coordinate with the relevant government entities and oversee their efforts in implementing the framework’s action plan reflects the State’s commitment to transforming sustainability into an institutional practice based on measurement, monitoring, and continuous improvement. This will ensure greater integration of government efforts and the achievement of the country’s environmental objectives.

The Minister further noted that the next phase will involve working closely with the relevant entities to establish reporting mechanisms, monitor performance indicators, and track the implementation status of each entity. This will pave the way for submitting an annual report to the Cabinet outlining each entity’s level of compliance, the results achieved, key challenges, and recommendations, thereby supporting the State of #Kuwait in fulfilling its international climate and environmental commitments while safeguarding the nation’s resources for future generations.
