Kuwait Leads the Path of Sustainability and Arab Environmental Action

Dr. Reem Al-Fulaij, Minister of State for Development and Sustainability Affairs, affirmed that the State of Kuwait is a leader and pioneer in establishing a path for environmental sustainability. The country has achieved significant progress by adopting the first unified government framework for sustainability reporting, which measures the performance of official entities across 14 national indicators, thereby serving as a leading model for governance, transparency, and the preservation of natural resources.
Speaking at the 37th session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment in Cairo, Dr. Al-Fulaij explained that Kuwait’s environmental excellence is practically demonstrated through its national low-carbon development roadmap—aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2060—as well as its leadership in training national cadres specialized in climate negotiations and expanding renewable energy projects.
She emphasized that this advanced standing places Kuwait at the forefront of efforts to bolster joint Arab environmental action and translate recommendations into tangible implementation programs that address the challenges of climate change and desertification, thereby fostering a transition toward a green economy and ensuring a sustainable future for coming generations.
