Dr. Reem Ghazi Al-Fulaij, Minister of State for Development and Sustainability Affairs, emphasized the importance of developing a national plan for emergency response to marine pollution incidents involving oil, as well as harmful and hazardous substances. Such a plan would bolster national preparedness and safeguard the marine environment and its natural resources.
This came during a workshop organized by the Environment Public Authority on October 21–22, which brought together relevant stakeholders to discuss the development of the plan, enhance coordination and training, and improve the efficiency of responses to marine pollution incidents.
Dr. Al-Fulaij underscored the necessity of translating the workshop’s outcomes into practical steps that contribute to protecting the marine environment and preserving its resources for future generations.
