the sustainable governorate framework

The Minister of State for Development and Sustainability Affairs affirmed that the Sustainable Governorate initiative aims to develop an integrated framework for measuring the level of sustainability across the governorates of the State of Kuwait. This will be achieved through the preparation of periodic sustainability reports based on clear indicators that assess developmental, environmental, social, and service performance.
The statement was made during a meeting with His Excellency the Governor of Farwaniya, Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al-Athbi Al-Sabah; His Excellency the Governor of the Capital, Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah; His Excellency the Governor of Ahmadi, Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah; and His Excellency Sheikh Sabah Bader Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Acting Governor of Hawalli. The meeting was attended by representatives of the relevant government entities to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the initiative and strengthening coordination among the concerned authorities.
The Minister explained that the sustainability reports will help assess the current status of each governorate, identify its needs and priorities, highlight gaps and opportunities for improvement, and support data-driven decision-making while enhancing the efficiency of implementing projects and initiatives.
She also called for the nomination of Sustainability Ambassadors in each governorate, who will be trained and empowered to strengthen community participation and promote positive environmental practices across all governorates.
The Minister emphasized that Their Excellencies the Governors are key partners in ensuring the success of the initiative.
