The Minister of State for Development and Sustainability Affairs, Dr. Reem Ghazi Saud Al-Fulaij, received Ms. Shaikha Al-Essa, Secretary General of the Kuwait Banking Association, along with representatives of Kuwaiti banks who are members of the Association’s Sustainability Committee. The meeting focused on strengthening partnership and coordination between the government and banking sectors in the field of sustainability, in support of Kuwait’s vision for achieving sustainable development.
The meeting reviewed key national sustainability initiatives and practices, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise and successful experiences. It also explored opportunities to further develop sustainability reporting methodologies in line with international best practices, with the aim of improving the quality of disclosures and advancing institutional sustainability.
The Minister emphasized that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals requires integrated efforts across all sectors. She noted that collaboration with the banking sector represents a model of national partnership that helps embed sustainability principles, facilitate knowledge exchange, and enhance institutional practices, thereby strengthening Kuwait’s position in this field.
She added that the Ministry is committed to building strategic partnerships with government entities and the private sector, based on the belief that sustainability is a shared national responsibility, and that the integration of roles among all stakeholders is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development.
