The Coastal Monitoring and Desertification Department, represented by the Desertification Section, and the Biodiversity Conservation Department, represented by the Wildlife Monitoring Section, participated in a joint workshop between the State of Kuwait and the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The workshop presented a guide to procedures for surveying and assessing degraded lands using remote sensing technologies, with the aim of promoting the use of modern technologies in monitoring, assessing, and determining the condition of degraded lands.

The workshop also aimed to discuss ways to rehabilitate and restore degraded lands in a manner that contributes to supporting the sustainability of ecosystems and conserving natural resources and biodiversity.
